Costain Redundancies
A bit of further end of week cheer comes from the news reported in Building Magazine of the leaked memo from Costain.
According to the reports, a poor performance last year have led to the need for Costain to write off a cool £50m. Whilst the cause of the problems has not been made public, it would appear that the Chunnel Rail Link Extension is partially to blame.
An internal memo has been leaked (another mole - no doubt the same one that roams around the corridors of Westminster) revealing the companies need to have a staff clear out. The interesting part of the whole issue is the criteria they have identified in making people redundant. They are as follows:
Skills and experience in the required role
Standard of work performance
Future capability
Attendance record
Disciplinary record.
Standard of work performance
Future capability
Attendance record
Disciplinary record.
Basically if you not very good then you could be out, does not say a lot for their initial recruitment policy.
If the same criteria was implemented at WP HQ there would be no one here!
