Liverpool FC Review New Stadium Development
Recent Reports are suggesting that Liverpool's new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett undertaking a review of the plans for the new Stanley Park stadium in a bid to increase its proposed capacity from 60,000 to 75,000.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton confirmed that the size of the ground is under review but said: "There is a total commitment to a new stadium but the new owners are conducting a thorough review of the current proposals, to see if there is any way they can be improved."
Alterations to existing submissions could mean the club has to reapply for its already granted planning permission which would certainly put back the scheduled 2008 completion. There is also a possibility that Laing O'Rourke Plc, who were set to construct the arena may have to resubmit bids if significant changes are made.
Work on the new ground has to start in the spring because public money allocated to the scheme has to be spent by the end of 2008.
