No More Teething Problems

The third most popular employee benefit being introduced by employers in 2007 is dental insurance and the number of organisations offering dental insurance will increase by 57% this year. This is according to the latest annual Reward Management Survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development(CIPD).

Charles Cotton , a CIPD Rewards advisor says: “As the research from Citizens Advice and the British Dental Association shows more and more individuals find it increasingly hard to see a NHS dentist. CIPD research finds many employers are stepping in and providing dental insurance to their staff.”

The CIPD’s 2007 Reward Management survey found:

  • 14% of organisations offer dental insurance as a benefit and this will rise to 22% this year.
  • 15% of manufacturing and production organisations surveyed already offer dental insurance and this will rise to 23% this year.
  • 8% of private sector service organisations surveyed already offer dental insurance and this will rise to 27% this year.
  • 5% of voluntary sector service organisations surveyed already offer dental insurance and this will rise to 11% this year.
  • 7% of public sector organisations surveyed already offer dental insurance and this will rise to 11% this year.
