New Home Fixture

Portsmouth FC have unveiled their proposed new waterfront stadium. The 36,000 all seater stadium is a joint venture with Sellar Property Group.

Designed by top architects Herzog and De Meuron, the scheme will include over 1m sq ft of residential space and a 1.5 acres area of open space. Additional facilities will include a restaurant and leisure facilities - the suggestion being that the 36,000 all seater satdium will not designated as leisure space.

The scheme will reclaim nearly 13 acres of land back from the sea, leading to speculation that the mighty Pompey will be all washed up in years to come.

The existing site will be redeveloped for housing. Works could start by early summer 2008 with the team playing in their new state of the art ground in 2011.

Hopefully they will not be affected by the same complications that afflicted Wembley Stadium, or indeed their infamous neighbour, the Spinnaker Tower.
