Smithfield Go-Ahead

The proposed redevelopment of the west side of Smithfield Market by Thornfield Properties has been given the go ahead.

Whilst the initial proposal was granted planning permission, the scheme was called in to face a public enquiry.

Subsequent amendments to the plans will work better with the rest of the market and the Farringdon Elevation.

According to reports in Property Week the design combines an open market area, 103,786 sq ft (9,642 sq m) of retail and 379,474 sq ft (35,254 sq m) of offices on three sites: the derelict and disused General Market Building, 25 Snow Hill, and 29 Smithfield.
