Browns Cabinet

Yesterday Prime Minister Brown unveiled full details of his new cabinet, making Jacqui Smith the first female home secretary in British history. Mr Brown’s reshuffle saw every cabinet portfolio going into new hands, with the sole exception of the defence brief, which remains with Des Browne.
Yvette Cooper, who has been minister of state for housing and planning since 2005, and is married to Ed Balls, Gordon Brown’s right-hand man, now heads up housing.
