Footballers pads upset locals

The Times Reports that Prestbury residents in one of Britain’s most exclusive villages have mounted a rebellion against property developers amid claims that an influx of wealthy footballers has spoilt the area.
Residents in the Cheshire village say that family homes have been bulldozed to make way for lavish properties belonging to Wayne Rooney, above, and some of his teammates at Manchester United. Rooney pulled down a five-bedroom house to build a multimillion-pound mansion, and several properties have since been erected near by, according to residents.
Parish councillors faced protests recently at their annual meeting over more plans to demolish old homes and replace them with giant properties.
Thelma Jackson, the deputy mayor of Macclesfield and Prestbury Conservative councillor, speaking to the Times said: “It’s causing mayhem and disruption. It’s out of control. I’m speaking out on behalf of residents that feel that it’s destroying the character of the village.”
