Worker Killed At Terminal Five

An investigation is under way after a construction worker was killed in an accident at Heathrow Airport's new Terminal Five (T5) on Saturday. The man identified as Kevin Dawson,was a 45-year-old employee of the lift contractor, Schindler.

Donna Casey, spokesman for BAA, said: "We are very sad to confirm that a worker died in an accident at Heathrow's Terminal Five construction site...He was working in a lift shaft when the accident happened, but was pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency services...No-one else was hurt. An investigation is underway and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified...Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time."

It is the second fatality on the £4.4billion project since it started five years ago.The new terminal is due to open in March 2008
