Site digger gone missing? Lost your tractor?

The latest crime wave to hit the UK is the theft of tractors, diggers and quad bikes, worth over £3m per year. The most favoured target are the distinctive green and yellow John Deere tractors worth up to £70k. Rural areas are being hit the hardest, where unguarded equipment can be easily stolen due to the lack of decent security.

The Police have set up a special task force to tackle the organised crime gangs under Operation Mermaid. Although success to date has been limited, especially when they had equipment seized stolen from their own compound!

The stealing of tractors is quite a profitable profession with gangs being paid £50,000 for stealing equipment worth over £100k and transporting them to Australia
