Skills Shortage Solved?

Are the older generation the key to plugging the skills gap within your organisation?

Business is slowly coming round to the idea that they need to hold onto their skilled workers. According to report in yesterday's Sunday Times, luring retiring staff to stay on, or even bring them back from retirement solves the problem of a large skills gap due to a lack of staff coming through.

The dilemmas faced by organisations is twofold, will the staff still want to continue working and how do you keep the more talented and motivated staff?

Aon undertook a recent survey that showed 53% of workers would work beyond their retirement year simply because their pension is not sufficient. Whilst only 25% said they would stay on because they wanted to.

The age old problem of discrimination is still a problem that simply need to be overcome.
