Liverpool - A City in Danger?
English Heritage have been shamed into action to protect Liverpool City Centre from developers. Unesco has taken note and has threatened to add the city to its “heritage in danger” list.
A 19th century Josephine Butler House on Hope Street, that was not listed was recently demolished by contractors as part of the massive redevelopment that continues through the city centre.
There has been a serious backlash against authorities in the wake of the developments with a lack of care and attention being given to buildings of genuine historic interest.
English Heritage have defended their apparent slow response due to a lack of resource to cope with the pace of redevelopment.
This seems to be a tale that could apply to most city centres...

What is the point of English Geritage and Liverpool`s Conservation team if they dont get out theiir offices to see what developers are destroying
