T5 Teething Problems

On the opening day of business at T5, check in had to be suspended and 34 flights cancelled.

Problems started first thing in the morning when the screening of staff took longer than anticipated. This had a knock on effect throughout the whole day. Matters turned for the worse when a baggage belt packed up. The belt was unable to cope with the number of bags being passed through. Not ideal!

Seven flights left Heathrow this morning with no bags on board, (bit of a fundamental error) and passengers were delayed by up to 2 hours in retrieving their bags.

More embarrassingly was leaving a disabled passenger waiting for assistance for an hour only to find when they did get nearer the terminal they were obstructed by a high kerb.

Problems like this are to be expected, but does not mean we can't all be pleased that we chose not to fly today!
