DIY Debt Collection

Debt collection for small contractors is a constant worry. A contractor in Sussex took matters into his own hands when his client failed to meet the payment for works undertaken.

Nigel Gray built a conservatory and a porch on a council house and received payment by two cheques which subsequently bounced.

After making no progress in trying to recover his debt, the contractor sought assistance from the Local Authority, but they could not assist in the payment as it was a private matter

The contractor then took then only recourse available to him which was to come knocking, with a sledgehammer and take back what was legally his.
