Uproar at the Barbican
The largest single building in the City of London is being proposed by KPF close to the trendy residential area of the Barbican.
According to reports, the massive 90,000sq m has been met with vociferous outrage by the residents of the Barbican. Complaints on the architectural merits, size and proximity to the Barbican have been cited as the reason for the complaints. The suggestion being that there is no place for such a development in the City. Buildings of this size should be housed within Canary Wharf.
The building is designed to be the new European HQ of JP Morgan comprising of two joined blocks of 11 and 22 storeys.
