£200m Begging Letter Turned Down

It is not uncommon to hear someone try to pick up a house on the cheap by dropping a begging letter through the post box asking if the owner would be keen on selling their house, without going via an agent.

Whilst the majority of us would probably not turn an offer of £200m down, Jon Hunt the previous owner of Foxtons, certainly did.

It is claimed in the Times that Aditya Mittal slipped a note into his neighbours letter box asking if Mr Hunt would be keen on exchanging for £200m. Given that Mr Hunt paid £14m for the property, despite extensive renovation works, he turned it down.

I know what I would have done...
