Costly New Logo for Cornwall
The recent creation of a super council in Cornwall has brought recent controversy following the disclosure of the cost surrounding the new logo.
Whilst the logo compares favourably with the 2012 effort, the cost is not dissimilar. The cost to the poor(er) residents of glorious Cornwall will be £476,000
Cornwall's new unitary authority will replace the six district councils and county council from April 2009.
The insignia, which was chosen from more than 30 entries, has been compared by critics to the hairstyles of Amy Winehouse and boxing promoter Don King.
Based on the shield from Cornwall's ceremonial crest, it replaces the existing design featuring a miner, a fisherman and a chough (a type of bird).
The council committee will vote on whether to approve the re-branding budget on Thursday.
