Government To Put £93 Million Towards Industry Training

The UK government has announced a three-year agreement with employers to deliver more skilled workers in selected sectors, including housing and facilities management.

More than £93m will be earmarked from the government's training budget to tackle skills shortages within these key sectors, which also include fashion and textiles.

Of the total funding, £69m will be allocated to the property, housing, cleaning and facilities management sectors.

The announcement was made by skills minister Lord Young as part of an overhaul of the skills and training system, begun by ministers to tackle existing and forecast skills shortages.
