Balfour Beatty Wins Heathrow Contract
Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction, services and investment Group, announced today that it has been selected by BAA to provide both pre-construction advice and construction services for a major part of the works associated with the Eastern Campus Development Programme at Heathrow Airport.
The works will realign the taxiways and provide new aircraft stands in the areas to the east of Terminals 1 and 2 to include the Heathrow East Satellite Project and part of the complex underground connectivity scheme to link the new satellite to the other terminals. The total value of the works could be in the order of circa £750 million.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said: "We are delighted to be continuing our support to BAA on the Eastern Campus Development Programme at Heathrow. Our track record in delivering capital projects for BAA, including the rail systems element of Terminal 5, along with the strong business relationship forged between us, have been instrumental in completing this important agreement.”
Balfour Beatty has signed a 10-year framework agreement with BAA to assist in delivering its £6.6bn capital programme. This framework covers both complex projects, such as the Heathrow East Satellite Project, and smaller commodity projects, including alterations, refurbishment and building work at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
