Morgan Sindall Wins Welsh RAF Base Project

Construction company Morgan Sindall has won the £25 million contract to extend facilities at the hangar and pilot training centre at an existing RAF centre in Anglesey, which will house the new Hawk 128 fast jet trainers.

The group's construction business, Morgan Ashurst, will build the 120,000m2 building, where future fast jet combat pilots will train. Groundworks, piling, drainage and infrastructure works will be carried out by Morgan Est.

Morgan Ashurst's senior project manager David Watts said the company was "delighted" to be chosen to build the new facility."With planes taking off every two minutes on a live site, this is an extremely complex project...The site must be kept immaculate, security is rigorous and deliveries must be carefully co-ordinated. However, we are experienced in delivering schemes for the defence sector so we are confident we can rise to the challenge".
