Galliford Try Wins £47million Welsh Prison Contract


Galliford Try plc has been awarded a £47 million contract by Group 4 Securicor to develop and refurbish new and existing facilities at Parc Prison in Bridgend,the only private prison in Wales.

The project will involve developing the Category B Prison to create a new accommodation block together with extensions and conversions to existing buildings on the site. The scheme has been designed to comply with the Building Research Establishment BREEAM “Excellent” environmental rating.

Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented:
“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract which builds on Galliford Try’s record and experience in delivering custodial projects and adds further to the Group’s workload in the public and regulated sectors.”

Work on site will start in May 2009 and completion is expected by February 2011.
