Spanish Builder Turns To Daylight Robbery
The Telegraph reported that former builder from northeastern Spain successfully held up four bank branches netting 80,000 euros (£71,500) .
He used the money to pay his creditors and employees when his property business started to fail. Police said the 52-year-old man, who has been identified only by his initials ACG, was arrested at the weekend as he attempted to hold up his fifth bank in the small town of Asco near Tarragona.
"He had an ordinary life, with a stable family," said Roderic Moreno, the police inspector who led the hunt. "He was doing well but he stopped getting work and his debts mounted. Without a doubt, he led a double life and probably not even his family knew about his criminal activities."
The bankrupt businessmen covered his fingertips with sticky plasters to avoid leaving prints."We had no prints and no witnesses, and the images were useless," said the detective. "But we caught him using other, more traditional methods."
