Morrision Construction awarded Olympic rowing lake revamp

Morrison Construction, a subsidiary of contractor Galliford Try, has been awarded the contract to revamp a rowing and canoeing venue in Windsor for use in the 2012 Olympics.

The contractor will upgrade existing facilities at the Eton College Rowing Centre in Windsor, Berkshire, which will host canoe sprint events during the games.

ODA chief executive David Higgins said: “Eton College Rowing Centre is a first-class venue and the enhancements we are delivering will create the best possible facilities for the world’s best athletes to use in 2012. Securing a world-class contractor is an important step towards delivering these essential works.”

Galliford Try managing director, Ken Gillespie, added: "We're delighted for this opportunity to extend our relationship with the ODA and on such a prestigious project. We look forward to starting the work."
