18th month high for mortgage approvals

The Bank of England reports today that total net lending secured on dwellings in September was at an 18th month high with £7.6billion approved, up from £7.3billion in August.

The number of loan approvals for house purchase was 56,215, which was above the August figure 52,970 and above the previous six-month average, whereas approvals for remortgaging was 25,528 a figure below the August number of 28,348 and below the previous six-month average of 48,221.
