Founder of Countryside Properties dies at 76
In a statement issued today Countryside said: "It is with the deepest regret that Countryside Properties announces the death of its founder and chairman, Alan Cherry. Alan passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning at the age of 76, after a characteristically determined battle with cancer that started when he was first taken ill last summer. Our deepest sympathy, in particular, to his wife Fay and all the Cherry family.
"During his half century at the helm he created one of the UK's leading and most respected housing and property development companies, which specialises in the creation of sustainable communities and urban regeneration. He built a highly successful company with a pioneering vision and very strong key values. Alan was admired by many and will be greatly missed. Alan's sons, Graham and Richard have been part of the senior management team for many years and will continue Alan's vision and build upon his legacy."
