Enterprise Mouchel wins Areas 1 and 13 MAC contracts

EnterpriseMouchel , a fully incorporated company jointly owned by infrastructure maintenance support services company Enterprise and consulting and business services group Mouchel has announced that it had been awarded the Management Agent Contractor deals for Highways Agency Areas 1 and 13, covering Devon and Cornwall and Cumbria and North Lancashire respectively.

Area 1 covers part of the south west of England and includes 180 miles of road in Cornwall and parts of Devon. The initial contract period is five years with an extension option of up to two years. The Area 1 contract was first awarded to the JV in 2006.

Area 13 covers routes totalling around 200 miles, mainly in the county of Cumbria and parts of north Lancashire. The initial contract period is five years, also with an option of up to two-year's extension. Mouchel currently manages the contract for this area in a separate JV.

The expected combined revenue to the JV from the two commissions could be up to £300m over five years.

Including these two Highways Agency MAC contract awards, EnterpriseMouchel will manage and operate three of the 12 MAC contracts in England (the other being Area 3).

Keith Jackson, Chairman of EnterpriseMouchel, commented:

"We are absolutely delighted to have been appointed by the Highways Agency to manage its motorway and trunk road networks in Areas 1 and 13. It marks the next stage in the development of EnterpriseMouchel, which already manages Highways Agency roads in Southern England (Area 3 and the existing Area 1) and urban road networks for Transport for London and various local authorities. We've made a considerable investment in the people, systems and technology that are transforming modern highway network management and with these awards we are now better-positioned than ever before to lead the way."

Neil Kirkby, Chief Executive of Enterprise stated:

"We are very pleased to have been appointed for both of these contracts. The JV won the contract for Highways Agency Area 3 in March 2008 and has now built further upon that success. These awards are more evidence of the strong relationships Enterprise, in JV with Mouchel, has built with customers and companies with complementary skills and experience."

Richard Cuthbert, Chief Executive of Mouchel, said:

"EnterpriseMouchel's appointment as Managing Agent Contractor on the Highways Agency's Area 1 and Area 13 networks - two of the three contracts currently being renewed - is a massive achievement for Mouchel which, as equal partner in the joint venture, has invested considerable resources in positioning the joint venture for these wins.

As the UK's largest highways consultancy business, Mouchel already helps shape the future of highways in Britain and, in JV with Enterprise, is now unquestionably one of the UK's foremost providers of joined-up maintenance and network management support services."
