The Dangers of Health And Safety?

A number of Newspapers carried an article last weekend reporting that staff at the Health and Safety Executive(HSE) are injured at work more often than most other workers.

According to the Daily Mirror new injury data shows that at the HSE the ratio is 4,143 workplace accidents per 100,000 people in 2005-2006, which is significantly greater than the 2,143 average for industry staff.

Inspectors were injured 96 times from April 2003 to September 2006, with 415 more injuries on HSE premises around Britan, 72 of them to visitors. Some of the reported mishaps include a bruised eye caused by a falling toilet-roll dispenser -and one injury from walking into a warning sign.

The Deputy Chief Executive of the HSE responded to the claims saying "The rates of accidents and injuries in HSE are low compared with other organisations, as one might expect. Indeed, most other comparable organisations have a reportable accident rate several times higher than ours"

Here at Workinproperty.com we have only one reported accident in the last year.... a paper cut recieved whilst opening the Accident Book!
