Green Shambles

We seem to cover so many topics surrounding the issues of sustainable development.

The amount of column inches 'Green' topics amass is staggering. Whilst it is clear it has become a focus for the consumer and the industry is responding, the regulatory bodies seem to be all over the place.

The government has made various pledges for 2016, Mr Livingstone has tried to better this and has made various assertions to improve on these targets. Meanwhile the Welsh Assembly believes it can tackle their green agenda even sooner.

Below these tiers of bureaucracy you have the large professional bodies, such as the RICS and , RIBA, CIOB, who are all trying to provide their twopenneth.

You don't need to to look much further to find institutions such as the National Housing Federation who are expressing their thoughts and concerns.

To further complicate or help matters you have relatively new bodies such as the UK Green Building Council trying to impress the industry with their collective might.

In essence what you seem to have is many large and powerful independent bodies trying to impose their opinions, and at the end of it the industry does not know which way to look and who to listen to.

Does anyone actually know what sustainable development is? Or what on earth a zero carbon home is supposed to do or look like?
