Staffing Levels Fall

A recent survey conducted by Robert Walters revealed that only 11% of employers offered overtime as an incentive for staff to work later.

Other benefits that were offered was time of in lieu, 9%. A minuscule 1% of employers offered their staff dinner or theatre vouchers instead. Wow!

Meanwhile a report within the Recruiter Magazine features employment figures over the last quarter from the CIPD. Staffing levels over the summer have not risen as would have been expected, and employers seem less inclined to forecast a growth in staff levels over the next year. According to the CIPD, 'job prospects look set to soften...' Meanwhile not all is doom and gloom, some employers are forecasting salary increases following a review at the end of the summer.

With less people finding employment, some members of the community are going back to school to pick up new skills. According to reports from TUC assistant general secretary, Kay Carberry, the more elderly trainees are finding doors being closed as courses are only available for younger staff. She claims that the elderly are being unfairly discriminated against as employers felt that they were not capable of learning new skills.
