£17 Million To Redevelop Construction College

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has agreed to provide up p to £17million to redevelop the National Construction College (NCC) complex at Bircham Newton.
Skills minister David Lammy said: “We are amidst the busiest building programme in the UK since the war, so I am extremely pleased that we have been able to confirm this support for a college that makes such a vital contribution to the construction industry.”
The support is conditional on the college putting up £4.3m and it needs to obtain consent to build 24 houses on the site to do this. King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has already turned down an application to build 250 houses on the site. This was originally intended to fund the college's renovation.
David Boyden, director of the college, said the offer from the LSC was “the news we've been hoping for”.He added:“It means we can continue to deliver specialist construction training to an industry that we have served for over 40 years. ”
