Eco Island

Recently we have seen the Eco House, the Eco Village, the Eco Town and now we bring you the Eco Island.

The good folk of the Isle of Wight are considering the option of turning their island into an carbon friendly eco island.

The Isle of Wight, which is just a short black ferry ride away from Southampton, believe the infrastructure on the island is in desperate need of upgrading. Councillors see this as the opportunity to start making more green changes. Consideration is being given to harnessing the power of the waves as well as using gasified waste.

The council is also seeking a grant of in excess of 15m to repair and renew the existing roads. Consideration is being given to changing the road structure to single lanes, the remainder being accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. It is anticipated that the Caravan Club will be ecstatic.
