Metronet Inquiry

'Metronet failed because, at risk of being simplistic, it ran out of cash'

That was the claim from an angry select committee discussing the failings of Metronet. The previous chair of Metronet, Graham Pimlott faced a number of accusations including corruption.

'a self-perpetuating army standing around and nothing getting done' was an even more insightful comment by an MP.

Ruth Kelly meanwhile faced demands to open a Public Enquiry.

The blame for the collapse was levelled at the shareholders, financier and executives. Systematic failure of the company appears to be the best description of this poorly run operation.

The sole suitor for Metronet, Transport for London should be ion the driving seat, so to speak by mid January. Be interesting to see if they can do any better.
