Queen's Housing Bill
100 homes a day will be built for the next 13 years under new plans by the government to increase the number of new homes, according to the Daily Telegraph. That's a staggering 3m new boxes by 2020.
The increase in the proposed number of new homes comes shortly after the realisation that the number of households will continue to increase in the coming years, with immigration playing a key part.
This proposal will be welcomed by some parts of the industry, notably house builders who are having a hard time of it at present. Any housing boom will also hopefully increase jobs in the industry.
Any local objections will be viewed as 'letting down' the local community. Punishment for letting down the local community have yet to be determined, however a new governing body will be set up to administer the proposal, US styled Home & Communities Agency.
A change to the planning laws will mean a relaxation of the release of land for housing, however assurances will be given that green belt land will continue to be protected.
