Construction Orders On The Up

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) have reported a 5 per cent rise in Construction orders in the 12 months to December 2007, with increases in all sectors except public non-housing and infrastructure output.
Private commercial orders soared by 14 per cent compared to the previous year although New infrastructure orders and public non-housing orders were down by 5 per cent
Private housing work was up 1 per cent and new work in the public housing sector was 16 per cent higher than the previous year.
The seasonally adjusted number of employees in employment in October 2007 was three per cent lower compared with July 2007 and was five per cent lower when compared with October 2006. Total employment (including the self-employed) in October 2007 was two per cent lower compared with July 2007 but was unchanged when compared with October 2006.
