Carillion Wins £500 million BT Contract

Construction and support services firm Carillion has secured a £500 million contract with British Telecom. The Monteray joint venture, which counts Carillion as its majority shareholder, will provide services to BT's 7,000 buildings and 100,000 staff located throughout Britain.

The deal covers BT's entire property portfolio, ranging from small, unmanned telephone exchanges in remote parts of Scotland to landmark sites such as London's BT Tower.
The contract, which runs until 2014, could also be extended for a further four years and generate an extra £30 million a year in revenues.

The other members of the consortium are Haden Young, a subsidiary of construction firm Balfour Beatty, and Uxbridge-based facilities management firm Reliance Integrated Services.

Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: "This reinforces Carillion's position as a leading provider of total facilities management solutions for major property estates."
