HSE Inspect Refurbishment Sites

During the summer of 2007 the HSE undertook inspections of 1300 sites focusing on low falls and good site order.

This month they are looking to target another 1000 sites, targeting working at height, clear working areas.

Last year, the majority of deaths that occurred did so following falls from height with 61% on refurbishment projects.

Whilst well managed sites have nothing to fear, sites which do not come up to standard will face strong enforcement action.
