Interserve Selected For £600 million Scottish Health Facilities Programme

Interserve has been selected by Health Facilities Scotland as one of five Principal Supply Chain Partners (PSCPs) in the new Frameworks Scotland programme, estimated to be worth an aggregate £600 million over four years. This is the national programme for future publicly-funded healthcare construction throughout Scotland (excluding the Scottish Futures Trust and hub models).

In addition Interserve has separately been selected for the Professional Services framework to provide healthcare planning services to Scotland’s National Health Boards. Interserve will work collaboratively with the Boards from concept stage, through initial service modelling and planning, preparation of business cases and detailed development of schemes to reviewing investment outcomes in the post-project evaluation.

Frameworks Scotland is open to all 14 NHS Health Boards in Scotland. The aim is to achieve improvements in design, quality, client satisfaction, health and safety and sustainability of NHS capital-funded schemes. The programme is due to start in early 2009 and has a possible two-year extension beyond the initial four-year phase.

Interserve has a long history of involvement in Scotland. Among the company’s recent projects in the health sector are the redevelopment works at two major hospitals in Fife: Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, and Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. These are part of a scheme developed by NHS Fife as a pilot for NHS Scotland which led to the creation of Frameworks Scotland. Interserve is also a PSCP in the Welsh and English equivalents of the programme, Designed for Life: Building for Wales and ProCure21.

Frameworks Scotland represents an excellent opportunity for the NHS in Scotland to get the best out of the construction industry,” commented Adrian Ringrose, Interserve Chief Executive. “Interserve has created a supply chain structure dedicated to ensuring that we bring to bear the best consultancy, design and construction expertise available, maximising the use of local skills as we do so.”
