Pontins Holiday Camp Makeover
Holiday Camps company said it will invest £50million and create 2000 jobs in its holiday centres over the next three years. Pontin's have seen a 30 per cent leap in booking from last year over Easter while summer bookings at Butlins have soared by 15 per cent. Pontin's currently operates six centres in the UK. The investment will be used to refurbish or rebuild them.The Pakefield Holiday Centre in Suffolk will double in size and capacity and part of the investment will also go towards launching a restyled entertainment programme. Ian Smith, Oceans Parcs chief executive, said: "It is particularly rewarding to be able to announce these plans which will not only generate increased tourism but create over 2,000 new jobs whilst the country is in a recession." Butlins will be opening their luxury s20million Ocean spa hotel in Bognor Regis, Sussex, in August as part of a s100million investment over six years.
